Giving Back: How Versova and Our Farms Are Making a Difference This Holiday Season

As we celebrate this holiday season, I've been reflecting on how our Versova and our teams have been working to make a meaningful impact in our communities. From the incredible results of our Center Fresh Golf Outing to exciting developments with the Versova Community Foundation, there's much to celebrate and even more to look forward to.
An Overwhelming Response: Center Fresh Golf Outing Final Giving Distributions
In June, we hosted our annual Center Fresh Golf Outing with hopes of raising funds for local hunger relief efforts. What happened next truly humbled us.
The generosity of our participants, sponsors, and partners far exceeded our expectations. In fact, the amount raised was so substantial that our team found ourselves in the wonderful position of having more funds to give to additional Iowa organizations dedicated to fighting hunger in our communities.
It's a problem we were grateful to have. After careful consideration, we identified organizations doing vital, hands-on work to address food insecurity right here in Iowa. And with the holiday season already upon us, the timing couldn’t be better.
We're thrilled to announce that funds raised at the Center Fresh 2025 Golf Outing, totaling $205,657.82, were donated to the following organizations:
- Hunger Free Kids Sack Pack Program, Sioux Center, Iowa
- Donation Amount: $85,500
- Hope Food Pantry, Sioux Center, Iowa
- Donation Amount: $85,500
- Senior Center Dinner Date Program, Hawarden, Iowa
- Donation Amount: $14,657.82
- Britt Area Food Bank, Britt, Iowa
- Donation Amount: $20,000
A huge thank you to our owners, employees, and vendors who made this possible. We're grateful to everyone who swung a club, made a donation, or showed up to support this event!
The Spirit of the Season
This year gave me a deeper perspective on hunger and the power of communities coming together to address this need.
Last summer, I had the privilege of traveling to Africa with the International Egg Foundation, witnessing firsthand how access to nutritious food transforms lives. It's work that stays with you long after you return home. And while the scale may differ, the need we see right here in Iowa is just as real.
One moment that stays with me: Learning that many children save their egg for last, saying it's their favorite part of the meal.
Partnering with organizations that provide hunger relief at home and abroad has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. Seeing the real impact of our work and the funds we've raised makes me proud to champion these causes at Versova.
Looking Ahead: The Versova Community Foundation Gears Up for 2026
While we're proud of what we accomplished this year, we're equally excited about what's on the horizon.
The Versova Community Foundation is gearing up for a landmark year in 2026. Our team has been hard at work developing a process to streamline how local organizations can apply for funding and support. Our goal is simple: make it easier for community partners to access the resources they need to do their important work.
We're eager to connect, listen, and find meaningful ways to help.
From all of us at Versova and Center Fresh Group, thank you to every organization and individual who helps make this work possible. Wishing you and yours a joyful holiday season filled with good food, good company, and plenty of reasons to be grateful.
Bruce's Classic Holiday Deviled Eggs
What's a holiday gathering without deviled eggs? This time of year, I love bringing a batch to every family get-together—they disappear fast! Here's my go-to recipe that's sure to be a crowd-pleaser at your table.
Boil the eggs: Place eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover with cold water by about an inch. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover, remove from heat, and let sit for 10-12 minutes.
Ice bath: Transfer eggs to a bowl of ice water and let cool for at least 5 minutes. This makes peeling much easier!
Peel and prep: Peel the eggs and slice them in half lengthwise. Gently remove the yolks and place them in a mixing bowl.
Make the filling: Mash the yolks with a fork until smooth. Add Miracle Whip, mustard, relish and salt. Mix until creamy and well combined.
Fill the eggs: Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves.
Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with paprika and fresh chives for a festive touch. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Optional: To sassy it up a bit - top with bacon pepper jam when serving.
